Position Overview

This is a high-impact opportunity to take the lead in building the mobile platform for one of the world’s most recognizable brands. As the Senior Engineer, Mobile App, you’ll drive the technical development of the Subway mobile application, delivering seamless and engaging experiences to millions of users across iOS and Android. This role offers a rare combination of autonomy, visibility, and impact—working closely with product, design, and backend teams to shape the future of the company’s digital guest experience. You’ll also mentor junior engineers, influence platform decisions, and play a pivotal role in Subway’s digital innovation roadmap. Position Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end development and optimization of the Subway mobile app using React Native and native technologies.
  • Architect and implement new features to ensure a seamless, scalable, and high-performance user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to define and execute the mobile roadmap.
  • Mentor junior engineers and offshore consultants, promoting best practices in mobile development and fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and proactively resolve issues across both iOS and Android platforms.
  • Conduct code reviews, write maintainable code, and continuously improve app performance and reliability.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and trends to ensure Subway remains at the forefront of mobile innovation.
  • Contribute to the improvement of development processes and mobile engineering standards.

Position Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrated success developing mobile apps at scale with React Native and native mobile technologies.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional mobile development experience, including 2+ years with React Native.
  • Proficient in JavaScript and familiar with both iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) native development.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, mobile app architecture, version control systems (Git), and TDD.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with the ability to guide junior developers.
  • Track record of creating exceptional mobile user experiences and contributing to high-impact projects.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with SAFe Agile development methodology.
  • Passion for intuitive UI/UX design and attention to performance optimization.
