Business Development Director

Remote (U.S.)

Company Overview

Our client is a profitable, founder-owned technology company that helps businesses claim the research and development tax credit through an end-to-end software platform, built by tax credit practitioners with more than two decades of combined experience in the field. The company serves clients in software, life sciences, manufacturing, architecture, and engineering, and it also licenses its platform to CPA firms and consultants who deliver R&D credit studies to their own clients. After federal legislation permanently resolved a multi-year headwind for the industry, the company doubled its revenue, and it now releases new platform features every month. With a lean, collaborative team that values initiative and fresh ideas, and a goal of doubling revenue and customers over the next three years, the company is adding a Business Development Director to scale its CPA and accounting firm channel.

Position Overview

This is a rare opportunity to lead growth for a proven, feature-rich platform at a turning point for the R&D tax credit market. First, you will work in open territory with uncapped earning potential, building relationships across a large and underpenetrated market of accounting firms, without splitting accounts or territories across a large sales team. Second, you will report directly to the co-founders and work alongside them every day, with full visibility into company strategy and the freedom to set your own cadence, campaigns, and channel approach. Third, as the sales organization grows, a high performer in this seat will have a path toward leadership and future equity conversations. Your success will directly drive the company’s plan to double its revenue and customer base over the next three years.

Position Responsibilities

  • Build and own an outbound pipeline into CPA and accounting firms with roughly 10 to 200 employees, engaging partners, owners, and presidents who make decisions about service lines, software, and client referrals.
  • Sell two complementary partnership models: platform licensing for firms that want to add or scale R&D tax credit work without adding staff, and referral partnerships for firms that prefer to send qualifying clients to the company for delivery.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from first conversation through signed engagement, working with the co-founders on demos and closing calls when needed, so that each opportunity moves forward efficiently.
  • Lead consultative conversations about firm economics, showing how the platform helps firms create new revenue from existing clients and run studies more efficiently.
  • Identify and pursue new channels for growth, including industry conferences, webinars, professional associations, and strategic partnerships, and bring these ideas to leadership with a clear plan for execution.
  • Time outreach and deal activity around the tax calendar, focusing on the summer and fall windows when firms are most open to adopting new solutions before tax season.
  • Use the company’s sales technology, including HubSpot, prospecting data, a power dialer, and appointment-setting support, to test outbound campaigns in new segments and keep pipeline data accurate.
  • Hand signed clients to the delivery team for onboarding and stay engaged with partner firms to support renewals and generate ongoing referrals, which compound over time as clients return year after year.

Position Qualifications

Required:

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding quota in a full-cycle closing role, with consistent results on deals averaging around $40K.
  • 5+ years of full-cycle, quota-carrying B2B sales experience.
  • Direct experience selling software or services to decision makers at CPA or accounting firms.
  • Demonstrated ability to build outbound pipeline from scratch without heavy marketing or SDR support.
  • Experience in a startup or early-stage environment, with a self-directed working style and comfort with ambiguity.

Preferred:

  • Experience selling R&D tax credit services, R&D tax credit software, or other specialty tax incentive solutions.
  • An established network of relationships within the accounting industry.
  • A collaborative, idea-driven approach that brings new strategies to leadership instead of waiting for direction.

Sales Director, Salesforce Financial Services

Our client is a woman-owned Salesforce implementation partner serving financial services organizations across Capital Markets, Wealth and Asset Management, and Private Equity. Built on a unique combination of consulting and education, this East Coast-based firm helps its clients become more strategically aligned through Salesforce, illustrating what a fully integrated technology stack can look like with Salesforce at the center. The culture is relationship-driven and people-centered, with a deep commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and the ongoing development of every team member. As they invest in formalizing their new-business sales motion, they are looking for a Sales Director, Salesforce Financial Services to build and own the function from the ground up.

Position Overview

This is a builder role with direct access to company leadership and a clear mandate to create something lasting. The Sales Director will own the full sales cycle from first relationship through signed Statement of Work, carrying a $2 to $3 million annual booked-revenue target and working closely with the founder and delivery leaders to grow qualified pipeline through new clients, Salesforce partnerships, and account expansion. In the first 90 days, the focus is on learning the current client base, offerings, and partner relationships and establishing a credible pipeline baseline. Over the following 12 to 24 months, the mandate is to grow bookings, make the sales motion more predictable, and build the playbook that will support the firm’s next stage of growth. For a commercially sharp, low-ego professional who is energized by creating the playbook rather than inheriting one, this is the right seat.

Position Responsibilities

  • Own a $2 to $3 million annual booked-revenue target, with a clear sales plan that accounts for deal size, sales cycle, and delivery capacity.
  • Create new-logo and expansion opportunities through targeted outreach, warm introductions, Salesforce co-sell activity, referrals, and industry relationships across private equity, capital markets, wealth and asset management, insurance, fintech, and lending.
  • Develop and manage trusted relationships with Salesforce Account Executives, Solution Engineers, Partner Account Managers, and other ecosystem leaders, maintaining a regular in-person presence at key Salesforce and partner events.
  • Lead the full opportunity lifecycle from prospecting and qualification through discovery, solution shaping, proposal development, commercial negotiation, and close.
  • Partner with leadership and delivery experts to translate client needs into clear approaches, estimates, pricing, proposals, and Statements of Work.
  • Coordinate clean sales-to-delivery handoffs, ensuring client expectations, scope, commercial terms, and relationship context are fully understood before work begins.
  • Track the full sales funnel and provide a clear weekly view of opportunity quality, risk, and expected bookings, with disciplined CRM hygiene throughout.
  • Bring market intelligence back to leadership to sharpen the firm’s offerings, positioning, partner strategy, and future growth investments.
  • Build and codify a repeatable sales playbook that informs how the company develops its broader growth function over time.

Position Qualifications

Required:

  • A documented track record of owning and exceeding annual bookings targets through new-logo acquisition and strategic account expansion in financial services technology, consulting, or professional services.
  • A minimum of 8 years of midmarket sales, business development, or account leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a quota-carrying role with direct accountability for annual bookings or new-business revenue.
  • A relevant network and the ability to establish credibility quickly with senior buyers across Capital Markets, Wealth and Asset Management, Private Equity, Banking, or Fintech.
  • Experience selling complex consulting, implementation, managed services, or digital transformation engagements, not only software licenses.
  • Working knowledge of the Salesforce partner and co-sell motion, including collaboration with Account Executives, Solution Engineers, Partner Account Managers, and delivery teams.
  • Familiarity with Financial Services Cloud, Sales Cloud, and how Salesforce supports financial services operating models and growth priorities.
  • Strong forecasting, CRM discipline, and commercial judgment, including the ability to pursue growth without overselling delivery capacity or creating avoidable margin and scope risk.
  • A builder’s mindset and collaborative, low-ego approach that fits a relationship-driven, people-centered firm.
  • Based in or able to maintain a regular presence in the New York metropolitan area, with remote flexibility and willingness to travel for client and partner engagement.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Existing relationships within the Salesforce partner ecosystem or with Salesforce field teams serving financial services clients.
  • Experience building a sales function or playbook at a boutique consulting or professional services firm.

If you are ready to own a visible growth mandate and help shape the next chapter of a respected Salesforce partner, we would love to hear from you.
